ZEPPELIN – Early childhood intervention

Introduction

The longitudinal study ZEPPELIN (Zurich Equity Prevention Project on Parental Involvement and Integration) investigates whether early childhood intervention from birth improves the educational opportunities of children from socially disadvantaged families. Due to its interdisciplinary design, this experimentally structured randomized controlled intervention study, spanning from birth to young adulthood, is unique in Europe.

Use of the Data

The research data enable comprehensive analyses of proximal processes and their long-term effects, considering individual and contextual variables from both cross-sectional and longitudinal perspectives. Access is limited for research purposes only.

Content of the Data

Two datasets from the project are deposited on Swissubase:

The datasets include, among others, data collected across time points t0–t6 on:

Family (demographic information, stress exposure, life satisfaction, social networks, etc.)
Parents (parenting beliefs, self-efficacy, depressive symptoms, etc.)
Child (health, stress exposure, intelligence, vocabulary, self-regulation, behavioral problems, motivation, educational achievement, participation, etc.)
Parent–child interaction (sensitivity and home learning environment)
Teacher / classroom (characteristics, support resources, attitudes toward integration, etc.)
